The Founders

In 2008, Renown Publishing founders Caleb and Brittney Breakey were arrested on their honeymoon for allegedly robbing a bank. Seven squad cars surrounded them—guns drawn—but when officers closed in, all they found were a couple of writers who were definitely not Bonnie and Clyde. Caleb sold that story to Chicken Soup, he and Brittney invested their wedding money in literary education, and together they haven't stopped telling stories since.

Caleb's professional career started in New York City, covering the Yankees for MLB.com. He loved interviewing professional athletes and sharing their stories, but it didn't satisfy his desire to impact lives through the written word. So after two years as a sports journalist, he and Brittney moved into a retirement community, where they served as night managers. The job gave them the opportunity to experience a treasure trove of age-defying relationships and to work on their adventurous writing and publishing endeavors—all the while making the occasional emergency call between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. 

Their literary pursuits during this chapter landed them literary agents, opened doors to traditional fiction and non-fiction book contracts, and inspired them to establish their own writing and publishing agency that has gone on to craft over 200 books, some earning spots on esteemed bestseller lists like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and securing Amazon's #1 book ranking.

Caleb and Brittney’s belief in the unique power of individual narratives, rife with struggles of acceptance, faith, fear, forgiveness, and love, deeply informs their life's work at Renown Publishing. He is the founder of Renown Publishing, creator of the Speak It To Book method, and published traditionally in both fiction and non-fiction. He lives in Washington State with his wife of 16 years, Brittney. Together, they enjoy writing, coffee dates, playing CLUE, and visits from three mischievous mini huskies and a smiley Shiba Inu.
